Both thermal expansion and magnetization measurements have been made on thesame samples of Fe.Co.-.Si alloys with x=O.4S and 0.77 in the temperature rangefrom 4.2 to 340 K and under magnetic fields of up to 50 k0e. Magnetic contributionto a thermal expansion coefficient was estimated by subtracting the nonmagnetic con-tribution expressed by Grfineisen's equation from the observed one. It was found thatthe magnetic thermal expansion coefficient has a positive and approximately constantvalue above the Curie temperature, and that the observed magnetovolume effect ofthese alloys is quantitatively well explained by the spin fluctuation theory developedby Moriya and Usami.[weak itinerant ferromagnet, Fe.Co. .Si, thermal expansion, magnetovolume ll effectl
