Study of Ferroelectric CsH_2PO_4 by the Ultrasonic Velocity and Attenuation Measurements

The velocity V and the attenuation ct of the longitudinal ultrasonic waves havebeen measured accurately near the ferroelectric phase transition temperature.Critical anomalies in the paraelectric phase were represented by A V - log (7' - T(,)and (lx -log (T -T.), where T. was determined from the simultaneouslymeasured dielectric constant e=C/(T -T.). It was also found that the energyrelaxation time r. varied as T. -(T -T.) '. This type of tlte critical behavioris the same as that of the usual ferroelectrics. Thus it is concluded that the dipole-dipole interaction is dominant in the critical anomaly of the ultrasonic waves ofCDP. Analysis of the attenualion based on the dynamical scaling law is alsopresented.
