Brillouin Scattering Studies on Low Frequency Surface Dynamics in Black Phosphorus

Low frequency surface dynamics of black phosphorus single crystals has beenstudied in the X }-cleavage plarne by Brillouin scattering under normal conditions. Inorder to elucidate the characters of the surface acoustic modes and the origin of thepolaritonlike resonance previously observed in the Y direction, coating effects on thesurface phonon spectra and compatibility between the X and Y axis spectral corn-ponents are examined. Surface sound velocities of the Rayleigh and pseudo-surfacemodes are calculated.
