ESR Study of the Normal-Incommensurate Phase Transition in Sr_2Nb_2O_7

Temperature dependence of ESR line shape associated with Fe" in Sr.Nbz07has been studied. The line shape is analyzed in terms of the incommensuratemodulation of the fine structure tensor (7) and E). The plane wave modulationmodel is a good approximation in the temperature range from 220'C to l20'C.The critical index 73 for the amplitude of the modulation wave is 0.34j0.02 inthe temperature range. Below 120'C, the soliton model is a good description forthe modulation wave.
