The C band of Pb" " centers in Lit, Nal, Kl and Rbl crystals does not showa triplet structure at 77 K. The weak B band of Kl: Pb and Rbl: Pb lies at lowenergy side of the C band, whc>reas that of Nal : Pb and Lit : Pb cloes not appearseparately from the C band. Suppression of the C bands and in.creasjng of thesplittings between the C and D' bands are caused by substituting the host crystalsin the order of Rbl, Kl, Nal and Lit, which is qualitatively interpreted in connec-tion with the configuration interaction between an excited state of Pb" and anelectron transfer state. In addition, temperature sensitive band apj>ears between Cand D' bands of Nal: Pb and ]Lil: Pb.
