Kinetic Equation Approach to Phase Transitions in Tunnel-Injected Superconductor. I : Homogeneous Case

The nonequilibrium properties of the tunnel-injected superconducting film are investigated microscopically in terms of the kinetic theory of nonequilibrium superconductivity. It is shown that the system exhibits a variety of behaviors strongly depending on the competition between the tunnel injection rate and the quasiparticle energy relaxation rate due to inelastic electron-phonon scattering. In particular, the system shows the first order transition to the normal state just as the one predicted by the μ^*-model, if the tunnel rate (or the quasiparticle energy relaxation rate) is small (large). In the opposite limit, the character of transition gets close to the second order one in the T^*-model.
