It is shown that the effects of the inner subshell ionization on the metastable states of OIV and OV ions are significant in ionizing plasmas. The intensities of line emissions of OIV and OV ions are measured in the JIPPT-IIU Tokamak plasma. From the analysis of the intensity ratios, the inner subshell ionizations 2s^22p ^2p → 2s2p ^3p + e and 2s^22p^2 ^3p → 2s2p^2 ^4p + e are found to be important especially for the OIV line.
