Recently, we have experienced two patients of Salmonella Sepsis : i.e. Typhoid fever of an 11-year-old girl and a rare case of septicemia due to Salmonella Alamo of a 9-year-old boy. We studied the relation of host defence response to these Salmonellosis. E. coli Lipopolysaccharide B and Zymosan A failed to generate chemotactic factors normally in a serum which was obtained in the acute ill phase of typhoid fever, but Heat Agglegated Human Gamma Globulin was able to generate chemotactic factors normally. A serum from a patient of septicemia due to S. Alamo, which was obtained after clinical improvement, was able to generate chemotactic factors normally. According to the clinical data, we deduced that extreme endotoxemia may play a part of such a generation defect of chemotactic factors.
