<Short Communication>The Epidemiological and Clinical Studies of Acute Febrile Mucocutaneous Lymph Node Syndrome (MCLS, Kawasaki Disease)

The epidemiological and clinical studies were done about 49 cases of acute febrile mucocutaneous lymph nodes syndrome (MCLS, Kawasaki disease). The epidemiological studies revealed that the occurrence of MCLS was seen more in the age around one year and four years old and that endemic outbreaks were seen in the district T in Sakai City. Serum immunoglobulin E values were elevated in 6 cases of 13 MCLS patients who were subjected to the measurement by means of radio-immunosorbent (3 cases of 5 cases in the acute stage and 3 of 8 in the convalescent). With 38 cases of 48 cases, atypical lymphocytes (virocytes) were noted in proportions ranging from 0.5% to 3% of peripheral blood leukocytes. With 31 cases of 38 cases, the atypical lymphocytes were seen during the acute stage and 16 cases along with the increase of leukocytes (WBC≩15000/mm^3) and neutrophils.
