Magnetocaloric Effect of Co(S1-xSex)2 under High Pressure

We examined the magnetocaloric effect of Co(S1-xSex)2, which shows typical itinerant electron metamagnetism, under high pressures up to 1.2 GPa. It was found that the magnetic entropy change, $\Delta S_{\text{M}}$, of $x=0$ increases with increasing pressure, while that for $x=0.05$ is not sensitive to pressure. For $x=0.08$, $\Delta S_{\text{M}}$ is decreased with pressure. The temperature dependence of $\Delta S_{\text{M}}$ was calculated on the basis of the spin fluctuation theory of itinerant electron metamagnetism. The calculated results reproduce the experimental $\Delta S_{\text{M}}$–$T$ curves well. The pressure dependence of $T_{\text{C}}$ of Co(S1-xSex)2 is also discussed.
