Characterization of Various Statistics of Diffusive Motion

It is shown that when a random force generating diffusive motion is not Gaussian, the diffusion coefficient defined via the conventional mean square displacement is not sufficient for describing the overall statistics of diffusion process. We propose an approach to the description of overall statistics of diffusive motion, introducing generalized mean displacements, and discuss how non-Gaussian characteristics of diffusive motion is detected, analyzing simple solvable models.
