Nearly Synchronized State and a Constant of Motion in a Coupled Chaotic Map : Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics

The dynamic behavior of the difference Δ(n)= |x(n)-y(n)| of Yamada and Fujisaka's coupled logistic maps x(n+1)=ax(n)[1-x(n)]+D[y(n+1)-x(n+1)]; y(n+1)=by(n)[1-y(n)]+D[x(n +1) =y(n+1)] is studied numerically and theoretically, where the slightly non-identical condition 0 <(a- b)≪1 has been assumed. It is found that there are four critical points for D. Especially, I(n)=[(a- b)/2a(a-2)] [x(n) +y(n)-1] - [x(n)-y(n)]/2 becomes a constant of motion at D=(a-1)/2 when b→a. Properties of the model neuron, whose output is defined by Δ(n), are also investigated.
