Calixarene derivative optical waveguides have been fabricated by the two-photon assisted polymerization method. The calixarene derivative has excellent in thermal stability and transparency as an optical material. The two-photon assisted polymerization method is a maskless and on-demand process, and thus the various forms of optical waveguides can be fabricated by scanning a monomer thin film with the focal point of the laser beam. Fabrications of not only straight waveguides but also branched waveguides were demonstrated by this method.
