The ν<SUB>3</SUB> fundamental of carbon tetrafluoride has been measured with a tunable diode laser-source spectrometer. The following molecular constants were obtained: ν<SUB>0</SUB>−2(<I>B</I>ζ<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>eff</SUB>=1283.4067 cm<SUP>−1</SUP>, <I>B</I><SUB>eff</SUB><SUP>PR</SUP>+<I>B</I><SUB>0</SUB>−2(<I>B</I>ζ<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>eff</SUB>=7.210×10<SUP>−2</SUP> cm<SUP>−1</SUP>, <I>B</I><SUB>eff</SUB><SUP>PR</SUP>–<I>B</I><SUB>0</SUB>=−5.290×10<SUP>−4</SUP> cm<SUP>−1</SUP>, and δ<SUB>3</SUB>=6.153×10<SUP>−4</SUP> cm<SUP>−1</SUP>. Using the <I>r</I><SUB>g</SUB>-structure obtained from the gas-electron diffraction study, the above molecular constants were reduced to be: ν<SUB>0</SUB>=1283.7181 cm<SUP>−1</SUP>, <I>B</I><SUB>eff</SUB><SUP>PR</SUP>=0.1915 cm<SUP>−1</SUP>, <I>B</I><SUB>0</SUB>=0.1920 cm<SUP>−1</SUP>, and (<I>B</I>ζ<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>eff</SUB>=0.1557 cm<SUP>−1</SUP>. From the (<I>B</I>ζ<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>eff</SUB> value, the Coriolis coupling constant for the ν<SUB>3</SUB> was estimated to be ζ<SUB>3</SUB>=0.811.
