The relative Raman intensities of the <I>v</I>1 line of carbon tetrachloride, the <I>v</I>8 line of acetonitrile, and the <I>v</I>3 line of chloroform were observed in the liquid phase and at various temperatures. The apparent intensity change due to the temperature were explained in terms of the local field effect, the density change, the statistical distribution effect, and the contribution of transition hyperpolarizability in the presence of a non-zero averaged molecular field.
