The effect of urea on the micelle formation of octyltrimethylammonium bromide (C<SUB>8</SUB>TAB) solution in D<SUB>2</SUB>O was studied by <SUP>13</SUP>C NMR chemical shift and <SUP>13</SUP>C spin-lattice relaxation time. The presence of urea increases the critical micelle concentration (<I>cmc</I>) of C<SUB>8</SUB>TAB solution. In the micellar state, the segmental motions of methylene chain adjacent to the polar head group are strongly affected by urea.
