The molar conductivity of iron(II) sulfate, FeSO4, in water was measured in the temperature range 10–35°C. Data were analyzed by the Quint–Viallard equation, and the resulting ion association constant, <I>K</I>A, was applied to the Bjerrum equation to determine the contact ion size, <I>R</I>B. The limiting ionic molar conductivity of iron(II) at 25°C is λ0(1⁄2Fe2+)=53.8 S cm2 mol−1. Thermodynamic properties of ion association reactions are Δ<I>G</I>298°=−13.7 kJ mol−1, Δ<I>H</I>°=9.7 kJ mol−1, and Δ<I>S</I>298°=78.0 J K−1 mol−1.
