• The title reaction produces β-alkylated styrene <B>3</B> in preparative yields. The formation of <I>trans</I> <B>3</B> from the <I>cis</I> sulfoxide <B>2</B> or the sulfone <B>7</B> is explained by considering the vinylic radical <B>8</B> as the intermediate.
