The effect of ring size on the reaction of <I>N</I>-<I>p</I>-tosylsulfilimine with such nucleophiles as CN<SUP>−</SUP> and <I>n</I>-Bu<SUB>3</SUB>P was investigated kinetically and compared with the effect on the reaction of the corresponding cyclic sulfonium salt. The results indicated that the <I>S</I><SUB>N</SUB>2–S process is more probable than the <I>S</I><SUB>N</SUB>2–N route.
