Nine new cobalt(III) complexes containing <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>-dimethylethylenediamine are prepared. The geometrical configurations of isomers are assigned on the basis of their visible and ultraviolet absorption spectra, proton magnetic resonance spectra, and the optical resolution of the chiral isomers. The absorption and circular dichroism spectra are discussed in comparison with those of the corresponding complexes containing ethylenediamine, <I>N</I>-methylethylenediamine, <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>′-dimethylethylenediamine, or tris-2-(aminoethyl)amine.
