Distribution of Solasodine Glycosides in Solanum khasianum Fruiting Stage Determined by ELISA and Western Blotting

Solasodine glycosides were analyzed in the fruiting stage of Solanum khasianum by the western blotting and ELISA using anti-solamargine monoclonal antibody. The western blotting of S. khasianum fruiting stage displayed the staining color depending upon the concentration of solasodine glycosides which shows a good correlation with the analysis by ELISA. The result indicated that fruits of S. khasianum on the same branch decreased continuously in solasodine glycosides until full maturation (ripe fruit) which contains from 41.27±3.96 to 34.39±3.46 μg/mg dry wt. The fruit on a different branch of the same plant showed a similar pattern of solasodine glycosides accumulation having from 44.18±3.19 to 34.39±3.46 μg/mg. dry wt.
