The purpose of the present experiments on rabbits was to find out what relation, if any, there is between the injection of Tsutsugamushi virus and the production of goat-haemolysin whose characteristic is immuniologically quite different from that of agglutinin, and the production of praecipitin by serumalbumen. The following conclusions were reached as compared to the author's previously published results of the experiments on the production of agglutinin by the bac. typhosus group, vibrio cholerae, bac. dysenteriae, bac. proteus X 19 and staphilococcus pyogenes. 1) The injection of Tsutsugamushi virus raises the praecipitin production of serum-albumen but very little. The results of injecting variola virus as a control also are similar to the above. 2) The injection of Tsutsugamushi virus raises only the production of goathaemolysin but the injection of variola virus as a control does not raise the production of goat-haemolysin. 3) The amount of rise in the goat-haemolysin by injection of Tsutsugamushi virus is considerably lower, comparatively, than the amount of rise of the agglutinin production by the bac. typhosus group; and the period of the high power of haemolysin is much shorter than that of the later. 4) The facts above mentioned show that the special and considerable increase of antibody production by inoculation with Tsutsugamushi virus can be observed selectively only on the bac. typhosus group agglutinin.
