• By the same method as stated in Part II the following results were obtained. 1) The rate of swelling of the skin was the highest three weeks after the extirpation, the lowest six weeks after it and was middle before. the extirpation. The. difference of the rate of swelling three weeks after the extirpation and before it was generally larger than that of between six weeks after the extirpation and before it. 2) The curves of swelling of the skin agreed mostly with types No. II and No. III. The curves obtained with the. muriatic alkali metal, muriatic alkali, earth metal, Kalium salts solutions and buffer solutions agreed with one of these two. The No. I type was obtained with distilled water, and the No. IV' type sometimes with grape suger solution. It happened sometimes that the No. IV type was obtained with grape suger solution, which was never occured in the previous examinations. The curves of swelling of the skin seemed to depend upon the sorts of solutions and were not much influenced by the extirpation of the ovaries. 3) The promotive effect on the swelling of various kinds and various concentrations, did not seen to be much influenced by the extirpation of the ovaries. The promotive effect on the swelling of buffer solutions seemed not always to depend upon the activity of the hydrogen ions, as it happened in the examination of Part I to Part II that the promotive effect of pH 2 solution was the largest and that of pH 4 solution was the smallest.
