The purpose of this investigation was to find the connection between self-acceptance and interpersonal relationships amoung youth. Investigation designed was to make the variable self-acceptance scale and to examine its structure. 207 university students were asked to answer the self-acceptance scale which was made from 70 items. Those results were given good-poor item analysis and principal component analysis, then 46 items were chosen for the self-acceptance scale because these items had high correlation with the primal component. And in order to make the quality of the scale clear, factor structure of the scale was examined by factor analysis. Then 5 factors were found hypothetically, and each were named as follows. I. good feeling for oneself. II. high self-trust. III. effort, ambition. IV. fulfillment and happiness of life. V. healthy and open human relationship. Investigation II was designed to examine the difference between high self-accepted people and low self-accepted people, especially their recognition of interpersonal relationships and interpersonal feelings. 61 university students (one by one) were examined by the word association test of dependency (Amae) and the self-acceptance scale which was made from investigation I. Based upon the score distribution of the self-acceptance scale's primal component given by investigation I, count the score of 25% from the top and the bottom, and it's result was compared with the score distribution of investigation II. Then 14 high self-accepted people (group H) and 16 low self-accepted people (group L) were extructed. (Combined score distribution of investigation I and II were judged its adequacy.) The results were as follows: [1] The lower self-accepted group (L) shows much disturbance for the words which have the content of interpersonal relationships and interpersonal feelings. [2] The higher self-accepted group (H) shows less disturbance than the lower self-accepted group (L) for the words which express dependency. [3] The lower self-accepted group (L) is much easily disturbed by the words which express negative interpersonal feelings such as aggression or grudge. These results were considered based upon the concept of self-acceptance and Dr. Doi's Dependency theory.
