A Ryricularia sp.-type fungus was isolated from leaf lesion of Kan-aoj plant (Asarum nipponicum F. Maekawa) grown in the forest near a paddy field in Tsuruoka (Haguro-machi) , Yamagata Prefecture. The isolate grew gray mycelia with aerial hyphae on potato sucrose agar medium. The conidiurn formed rarely on oatmeal agar rnedium apd showed typical shape of Pyricularla species, obclavate, bi-septate, tapering at the apex, and with a short tooth at the base. The length and width of the conidium was close to the Pyricularia species isolated from many gramineous plants. The phytotoxins of the isolate produced in the culture filtrate on soy-sauce medium werg differed from those of the rice isolate or crabgrass isolate. However, although the isolate appeared as clear bands on agarose gel in Pot2 rep-PCR DNA fingerprinting like a typically Pyricularia species, the fungus was identified an unknown Ryricularla species.　キーワード：カンアオイ，Pyricularia属菌　Key words : A Pyricularia sp.-type fungus, leaf lesion on Kan-aoi plant (Asarum nlppnonicum F.
