Spontaneous Spleorenal Shunt and Its Clinical Significance in a Case of Liver Cirrhosis

This is a report of a patient who presented neurological manifestations and was found to have advanced cirrhosis of the liver accompanied by a large splenorenal shunt. Unique histopathologic findings which were possibly related to the splenorenal shunt were noted at autopsy. Clinical discovery of spontaneous splenorenal shunt is rather infrequent, and its clinical implications are briefly discussed.
