It is difficult to grow a large single domain of quasicrystal formed through peritectic reactions between the primary phase (B2) and liquidus phase. A partial isothermal phase diagrams concluded the icosahedral(i-) or decagonal(d-) phase in the Al-Pd-Mn and Al-Ni-Co systems, respectively, have been examined with the aim of determining a liquidus compositions which equilibrate with a stoichiometric i- or d-phases. By choosing the optimum compositional liquid in the crucible, the growth of a seed i- or d-quasicrystals were used to grow a large scale quasicrystal by using the Czochralski method. We have produced a single icosahedral quasicrystal with the size of 150 mm in length and 10 mm in diameter in Al-Pd-Mn system.icosahedraldecagonalsingle quasicrystal
