High Field Properties of Ag-Sheathed Bi(2223) Superconducting Wires and Coils(High-T_c Superconducting Materials Research)

High field properties were evaluated for silver-sheathed BiPbSrCaCuO(2223) superconducting wires and coils. At 4.2 K, the critical current density was 1.03x10^5 A/cm^2 at 23 Tesla. Anisotropy of the critical current at 4.2 K in magnetic fields was measured. A three-double pancake coil was made and tested at 4.2 K. It generated over 3, 000 Gauss at 4.2 K with a backup field of 23 Tasla.
