Studies on the Oxide Magnets. II : Effects of Bi_2O_3 on Strontium and Lead Ferrites

In continuation of the part I, magnetic properties were observed for Sr- and Pb-oxide magnets with or without Bi_2O_3. The mixed powders of Fe_2O_3 from Fe(CO)_5, Bi_2O_3 and SrCO_3 or PbO were heated at 900℃ for 2 hours and sintered at 1000°〜1200℃ for 15 minutes in the air. The reactions of Pb and Sr ferrites in the range of Fe_2O_3/SrO<6 were completed at lower temperature, and therefore, effects of Bi_2O_3 could hardly be recognized in these systems. The properties of Sr ferrites in the range of Fe_2O_3/SrO<6 were improved by the addition of Bi_2O_3, due to the acceleration in the reaction or in sintering velocity.
