Microwave Resonance Absorption in Semi-Conductor. II : Magnetite Single Crystal

The microwave resonance absorption in Magnetite single crystal was observed at various orientation of the crystal by using (110) and (100) plane specimens at the wave length of 3.2 cm and 6.5 cm. The absorption amount and applied magnetic field corresponding to the maximum of absorption were obtained as a function of crystal orientation. Furthermore, from the results of experiment, g factor and anisotropy energy K_1 were calculated by Kittel's formula at both wave length. At shorter wave length, the experimental result shows a satisfactory agreement with Kittel's theory, but when the wave length is longer, fairly large discrepancy between the experiment and theory, was found. Thus, the Kittel's formula seems not to give exactly a resonance condition at a longer wave length, because at such frequency, a resonance occurs at lower field in which the magnetization is not saturated.
