Ferromagnetic Resonance Absorption in NiOFe_2O_3 and a New Magnetic Transition at Low Temperature

Microwave absorption phenomena, similar to those reported by Bickford for magnetite, were observed for nickel ferrite. The measurements at a wave length of 3.2cm. were made from room temperature down to -195℃. At the lowest temperature, two absorption peaks were obtained at 1, 490 Oe. and 200 Oe., the latter gradually decreasing with rising temperature and finally disappearing at about -120℃. The value of g-factor, the maximum absorption and the half line width increased with decreasing temperature. An anomaly of the intensity magnetization against temperature also observed in the range -120° to -195℃. Thus, a new magnetic transition of NiOFe_2O_3 at low temperature was found.
