The imitation gold which has been investigated by the writers has the defect of tarnishing by the perspiration at practical use. The present investigation has been carried out on the antitarnishing properties by the perspiration of the ternary alloys consisting of copper, zinc and aluminium, and moreover on the effects of the forth elements upon them. The hardness of these alloys also has been measured. From the result of the present investigation, it has been pointed out that α+β alloy has generally most anti-tarnishing property, and the slight addition of lead, iron, manganese or silicon gives anti-tarnishing action to the alloys, while the addition of silicon is followed by the remarkable increase of the hardness.
