Preparation of (Nd, Sr, Ce)_2CuO_x Type Compounds in a Gd-La-Sr-Cu-O System

A synthetic study of the phases in the (Gd, La, Sr)_2CuO_z system was carried out. A (Nd, Sr, Ce)_2CuO_x type compound (T^*-phase) was dominant between x=0.55 and x=0.9 of (Gd_<1-x>, La_x)_2CuO_4 coexisting with the Nd_2CuO_4 type (T'-phase) and La_2CuO_4 type (T-phase). An almost single T^*-phase was prepared in (Gd_<0.40>, La_<0.55>, Sr_<0.05>)_2CuO_4. On addition of Sr, resistivity of the sample clearly decreased. We discussed the relation between the observed phases and the average ionic radius of the A cation in A_2CuO_x.
