Preparation and Magnetic Property of Sintered Sm_2Fe_<17>N_x Materials under High-Pressure Conditions

Sm_2Fe_<17>N_x materials were sintered from the corresponding powder under high-pressure conditions of 1.5-30 kb and 300-800℃ without any binding material such as zinc or epoxy resin. The sintering characteristics were improved with increase of the applied pressure and temperature, and the sample prepared at 30 kb and 550℃ exhibited a good mechanical strength for use as magnet materials, but decomposition to SmN and α-Fe took place under conditions of 30 kb and 800℃.
