Seasonal Emergence of Clunio aquilonius TOKUNAGA (Diptera, Chironomidae)

In the southern part of Japan, the adults of Clunio aquilonius abundantly occur during the period from November to May but considerably decrease in number during the period from July to September. Thus, the pattern of the seasonal emergence of this species markedly differs from that of generalized marine chironomids, which uniformly occur throughout the year.
