Subsquent to biofeedback training (BT) for EEG α-activities using neurotic patients as the subjects in the preceding chapter, we carried out the self-regulation training in 8 healthy subjects and made a polygraphic study during the training for the purpose of studying the physiological condition in the high α state. As a result, in the situation where the self-regulation of α-activities was successfully done as instructed, a shift of α-activities to slow waves and prolongation of the R-R interval time of ECG were observed characteristically, and an increase in the peripheral blood flow volume and shift of MV to low frequencies were concomitantly noted. We have reported these findings with some discussion.
