EMG-BFT was administered to 15 cases of patients with alopecia areata. As a result, symptoms improved in 10 cases and the efficacy rate was 66.7%. Small as the number is, the cases are those which did not respond to the treatment by dermatologists and were referred to the out-patient clinic of this hospital as a refractory case and in which more than 50% of the head of hair have disappeared. With this taken into consideration, the efficacy rate in the present study is considered worthy of note. When comparison is made of side-effects of therapy itself, there is no case of BFT in which the treatment is discontinued because of side-effects. In this sense, BFT can be said to be a very safe therapy.
