Biofeedback; A Review of Its Clinical Efficacy in China

Reviewing historically of the development of biofeedback technique in China, we believe that there are three periods of development of the technique in our country. The first period started from the end of 1970s to the early of 1980s when the biofeedback had been widely introduced and certain instruments been imported. Some sequelae of cerebrovascular diseases began to be treated with the technique. During the second period mass-produce of biofeedback equipments in our country had been gradually applied to medical institution and even to small clinic. And a lot of papers of the therapy had been published by the middle of 1980s. Started from the mid-1980s when as the third, much attention was paid to the biofeedback technique by the medical circle of China and various relevant equipments were manufactured. Some people studied the technique with traditional Chinese medicine. The knowledge of biofeedback has been stepping out of realm of medicine and publicating popularly in presses now. Authors discuss how to enhance basic research in theory and clinical application in our country and propose mixing traditional Chinese medicine therapy into biofeedback, combination of several biofeedback therapies and predicting some indications in the early.
