Heart rate recovery after disturbing noise stress was investigated in 20 healthy university students. One group of 10 students had received biofeedback training (involuntary) only (BF), and a second group of 10 students had received biofeedback training and autogenic training (BF+AT). The examination was carried out nine times in each group. As the effect of training, results showed the shortening of recovery time of heart rate reaction following stress. There were statistically significant differences in both groups between the initial stage and the well-mastered stage (P<lt;0.01,p<0.0001). A comparison of the BF only and BF+AT groups revealed that a shortening of the heart rate recovery time was more effectively achieved in the well-mastered stage with a statistically significant difference shown for the BF+AT group (p<0.05). Stress reductive conditioning formation of the autonomic nervous system can be developed through biofeedback training, and can be more effectively developed when combined with autogenic training.
