From the time electromyogram-feedback therapy(EMG-BF therapy) was reported to be effective for the treatment of spasmodic torticollis, we have been using EMG-BF therapy to treat the patients having this disease. We have outlined the study results in this report. A total of 18 cases showed an effectiveness of 50%, and the group of patients who continued to take 10 or more sessions of EMG-BF therapy showed an effectiveness of 75%. The patient factors affecting better recuperation include (1) gender(female), (2) duration of disease, (3) accompanying neurological symptoms, and (4) low motivation to take the treatments. Meanwhile, the technical factors affecting better prognosis include (1) poor patient motivation, (2) focus of attention only on specific muscles, and (3) the problem of setting achievable goals.
