Using a "Headache Check List" and a "Life Style Check List", a follow-up survey was conducted on patients with migraine or muscle contraction headache who had undergone biofeedback (BF) therapy on a average two years previously. The survey was conducted to determine the relation between efficacy of BF therapy, and the effects of age, sex, duration of disease, and outline of daily life in these patients. As a result, it was found that BF therapy was effective in 63.6% of the patients with migraine and in 55.0% with muscle sontraction headache. The patients studied could be divided into three groups. BF-treated patients whose headache either improved or disappeared persistently, BF treated patients whose headache improved or disappeared transiently but aggravated again, and patients in whom BF therapy was ineffective. There was no significant difference among these three groups of patients in age, sex, duration of disease and subjective improvement in headache.
