In this paper, we studied the differences between psychosomatic characteristics of the patients with migraine and muscle contraction headaches at the standing point of psychosomatic medicine and investigated the usefulness and indication of biofeedback therapy for these chronic headaches. Anxiety, depression, neuroticism and over-adapted trait were more often observed in patients with muscle contraction headache than those with migraine. And also dysreguration of autonomic nervous system, measured by microvibration method was seen more frequently in those with muscle contraction headache than those with migraine. With regard to biofeedback therapy, more beneficial responses to biofeedback therapy, were shown in the subjects who were extrovert, low anxiety and low depressive, compared to introvert, highly anxious and highly depressive one.
