The binding rations of antigens to antibodies coupled to Sepharose 4B and Formyl Cellulofine were measured because the cost of antibody ligands affects the economical feasibility of immunoaffinity chromatography in bioindustries. The binding ratios decreased with the molecular weight of the antigens, but they did not change for the same antigen molecular weights in both polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies. Thus, accessibility of antigens to the binding sites of antibodies coupled to support materials seems to affect the binding ratio.
