Generation of Langmuir Waves form Alfven Waves by the Plasma Maser in Pair Plasmas

Using a two-dimensional electrornagnetic and relativistic particle code, we show that high-frequency Langtnuir waves can be generated by the plasma maser mechanism from loxv-frequencyAlfv!n waves excited by a tenaperature anisotropy. It is confirrfiecl by the sinaulation that theplasma maser mechanism does not require an electron (or positron) beam cornponent for thegrowth of high-frequency Langmuir waves.
