Forced Volume Magnetostriction of a Fe-Ni Invar Alloy near the Curie Temperature

The forced volume magnetostriction measured precisely in a relatively weakmagnetic field shows a sharp maximum in the region of Curie temperature fora 36.4 at'3Ni -Fe Invar alloy.The magnetovolume coupling constant C determined in the temperaturerange between room temperature and the Curie temperature is found to be ap-rroximatel>' 1.2 x 10 ' cm'/emu" and almost inderendent of the temrerature,under the condition that the forced volume magnetostriction is related with thelocal magnetic moment and the high-field susceptibility due to the band term.
