The electrical resistivities and the magnetic susceptibilities of liquid telluriumallays containing the rare earth solutes have been measured from the meltingpoint to about 900'C, The temperature-nndependent susceptibilities of light rareearth solutes are considerably larger than the theoretical values. The effectivemagneton numbers of light rare earth solutes are smaller than the theoreticalvalues. The 4f electrons of light rare earth solutes interact with the conductionelectrons. The additional resistivitiss do not vary much from one rare earth toanother. The increments of the resistivity caused by the rare earth solutes areinterpreted as a decrease in the density of states at Fermi level E..
