Magnetic and Mossbauer Studies of the Ordered Perovskites Sr_2Fe_<1+x>Re_<1-x>O_6

Structural, magnetic, electrical properties and mossbauer effect are investigated on Sr_2FeReO_6, SrFe_<2/3&tt;Re_<1/3>O_3 and their solid solutions. Sr_2FeReO_6 and SrFe_<2/3>Re_<1/3>O_3(Sr_2Fe_<4/3>Re_<2/3>O_6) are ordered perovskites of types Sr_2[Fe][Re]O_6 and Sr[Fe][Fe_<1/3>Re_<2/3>]O_6 respectively, both of which are tetragonal at room temperature. Sr_2FeReO_6 is metallic (ρ∼10^<-3>Ω-cm) and ferrimagnetic below 419K, while SrFe_<2/3>Re_<1/3>O_3 is semiconductive (ρ_<r・t・∼10^<-1>Ω-cm, E_P∼0.09eV) and ferrimagnetic below 475K. The SrFe_<2/3>Re_<1/3>O_3 compound is diffcult to saturatie in the magnetization. Mossbauer spectra showed that irons in these compounds are essentially trivalent. The spectra of SrFe_<2/3>Re_<1/3>O_3 are composed of two lines which can be attributed to the two kinds of Fe^<3+> ions located on the two sublattices. Electrical and magnetic properties of Sr_2FeReO_6 and Srfe_<2/3>Re_<1/3>O_3 are discussed, taking the crystallographic structured and ionic states of the compounds into consideration.
