Cu-NQR Study in the Paramagnetic State in YBa_2Cu_3O_6

The NQR uaueastrrernents f'or the Ctr(2) and the Ctr(l) sites in antiferromagnetic instrlatorYBazCu3O5 with IN :::l 415 K xvere carried ottt in the pararnagnetic state for the respectuvetetnperattmre ranges of 475 -575 K and of 295 -775 K. For the Ctr(2) sites, the nuclear spin-latticerelaxation rate I/T) and the second moztaent of the indirect nuclear spin-spin interactions l/]2Cexhibit a siutailar behavior to those in L2L2CLl0,1 not only irn the tetnperature dependence btrt alsoin the uaaagnittrde at least below 550 K. These results strggest a possibility that the renorraa?tlizedclassical description for two-diztaensional qtranttrzaa Heisenberg arntif'errornagnet is also applicableto YB2L2CLl3O6 as to L212CLlO.?1 and that the upper liranit of the bilayer cotmpling J"/J is as largeas 10 ', where J and J" are the intra-l;xyer and bilayer exchange cottplings, respectively. TheCurl) INQR does not probe any spin dyn?traaics in the CuO* plane except for the teraaperattrresbelow 600 K. The rapid increase in I/T) above 600 K stnggests the naotion of' off'-stoichiotaaetricoxygen atoms in the chain layer. The activation energy for the oxygen hopping is estiuaaated tobe 1.15 eV.
