Projectile-Breakup Process in ^<20>Ne+^<40>Ca Reactions at 92,149 and 213 MeV

Alpha -"0 correlation measurements have been performed to investigate whetherthe projectile breakup process takes place sequentially or directly in the "Ne-l-"Careaction at 92, 149 and 213 MeV. For the three-body final channel a-F-"0(g.s.)-f"Ca(g.s.) (elastic breakup channel), which has much larger cross section than theother channels, the coincidence events have been analyzed. By examining carefullythe relative energy spectra between (Y and "0, it was found that the sequentialbreakup process via the excited states of"Ne at 5.78 (J'= 1 , K'= 0 ), 6.72 (0", 0.' ),-f -H7.17 (3 , 0 ), 8.78 (6 , 0. ), 10.26 (5 , 0 ) and 11.95 (8", 07 ) MeV was dominant atthe all incident energies. The direct breakup process which proceeds without any con-cern with the excited states of "Ne has not been observed with the sensitivity of thepresent measurement.
