Anisotropy of Upper Critical Fields for d- and p-Wave Pairing Superconductivity

Based on the Ginzburg-Landau theory the angular dependence of the uppercritical field H.. for d-wave and p-wave superconductivity is derived for crystalswith cubic and tetragonal symmetry. The anisotropy of H.. can be large in somecases, depending upon the dimensionality of the irreducible representation andthe number of the gradient invariant terms. It is concluded that the experimentto measure the anisotropy of H.. might be a useful means to distinguish p-waveand d-wave pairing from s-wave pairing superconductivity.
